market day

Today was market day. I got in the queue to cross the river to got to the market. I bought a ticket to cross the river. On the other side I bought another ticket to go to the market. I did not have much money left and everything was very expensive.

In the deep dark pink woods

Once upon a time in the deep dark pink woods, there was a bird, a leopard and a horse. They lived in harmony together until one day the leopard woke up and decided it would like a fried egg for breakfast. It had never had a fried egg before but it had heard some humans talking about fried eggs as they walked though the forest. From what the leopard understood it was part of what was called a ‘full English’. The walkers had said that it wasn’t a ‘full’ English unless there was a fried egg. The egg sounded delicious, the golden yolk surrounded by a white halo, almost regal. Just the thing for a ferocious leopard who was king of the forest. The leopard licked its lips with anticipation. While the bird was sleeping the leopard went to its nest and took six eggs. Then it crept away on its powerful but silent paws to find a frying pan. The fire was burning hot and bright, the fat had melted in the pan and the leopard took one of the eggs between its sharp claws ready to break it into the pan. Just then the egg opened its eyes and said, ‘please oh please don't eat me! I’m not an egg I’m a magic spell and if you eat me you will be cursed forever!’ The leopard was surprised but it had its heart set on a fried egg and a fried egg is what it was determined to have. It cracked the egg into the pan and watched as it sizzled and popped. The fried egg was as delicious as predicted, so velvet in texture and delicate subtle flavours. As the leopard licked the last bit of grease from its whiskers there was a thundering as if of a hundred hooves. But only one horse appeared, it was the pink Show Pony. It danced and trampled on the leopard and said ‘a leopard cannot change its spots, from now on your spots will tell the truth of what you have done.’ From then on, the leopards spots spoke to everyone they met and told them how the leopard had taken what did not belong to them.

Water water everywhere

The world was flooded, there was water everywhere. They did not know how long they had been floating on the raft. Everything had been washed away, but at least they had managed to save the TV. On the raft they just watched the TV and the watery world floated by. It was quite boring sometimes but there was nothing they could do about it.

Pool of youth and beauty

I went to the pool of youth and beauty. I was very happy with the results although very soon I was dissatisfied again.

Birds eat all the men

The birds came down and ate up the men like crunchy little snacks. The men cowered behind their fancy cars but the birds were quick and agile despite their immense size. They grabbed the men and bit off their heads. The men did not like to be eaten, they were scared. Every day the birds came back and ate some more. For them it was an 'all you can eat' buffet of delicious morsels. ‘What shall we do?’ the men shouted. ’The women will save us!’ cried another. But the women were already gone.

Audition for important part

It was a big day, everything depended on this day. I must get this part. Everything would be lost if I did not get the part. I tried so hard.

Water

Once upon a time there was water. It fell from the sky in clear blue droplets. It made pools and puddles on the ground. The water tasted sweet and pure, it was good to drink, to make soup, to swim in or to wash in. It made the plants and trees grow big and luscious, it was the lifeblood of everything.. Everybody loved water and no one ever questioned where it came from or that one day the rain might stop and there would be no water. The water women went about their usual business, they made soup, they grew cabbages, they argued and laughed together. The well was always full, there was food aplenty, life thrived. It is sometimes said that ignorance is bliss, and the women did live in bliss although they did not know it. They did not know that one day the rain would stop. It was only when the rain stopped that they knew they had lived in bliss.

Best Day Ever

It was the best day ever. Just one of those days when everything goes right and the world is an exciting place. The very pavements seemed to be alive with magical stories to tell of the many feet that had trampled upon them. Everything seemed right with the world because I was going to meet my friend for a glass of wine. You know that friend who just gets you? Who you don't have to explain everything too, and they laugh in all the right places. I was going to meet that friend and have a glass of wine and everything else could wait. It really was the best day ever.

The allotment

Up at the allotment the killer cucumbers had taken over. The last tree was cut down and the cabbages revolted.

Horse of Hope

The world had become a sad grey place, mud, empty plains with bleak, loveless sky as far as the eye could see. It seemed that all was lost of the old world.

Until one day a whisper began on the breeze, so quiet that you could hardly hear it. But it grew stronger and stronger until the earth trembled with the sound.

'The horse of hope is coming, the horse of hope is coming!'

The horse of hope had arrived, its dainty hooves tapping along the way. Where there had been nothing but emptiness the horse trod and from its feet sprung new life and hope. The world became a lush carpet under its footsteps. Up sprang greenery, pushing its tendrils to the sky. Blue irises reached out their twisted delicate petals welcoming the new life in. Strong, dark foliage grew and grew, and with this creatures began to return from their hiding places. Out from rocks and stones they came, for there was hope once again and the world buzzed with new life.

Squirrel society

The things the squirrels loved most were botox and smoking. They were the best things they had taken from the human world. The days of human dominance were over and now the squirrels kept the last few human women in a hole to use them as ash trays.
